Canadian Ronald McDonald House

Enjoyed it? Please share it!

On behalf of the 10,000 families who call a Canadian Ronald McDonald House home each year, I would like to thank Old Dutch Foods for supporting the 2011 AGRI-FOOD Ski Day at Osler Bluff Ski Club. By sponsoring this event, your company had an active role in helping put on a wonderful event, which raised over $2,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Canada. We hope you will again support this great event planned for February 16 2012.

At RMHC, we know that when a child faces serious illness or disability they face it better as a family, and we are proud to support the 12 – soon to be 14 – Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada and help give sick children what they need most…their families.

It is a very exciting time for RMHC, as we continue to grow our Houses, to double capacity growing from 12 Houses serving 10,000 families each year to 14 Houses serving 20,000 families each year. Here are a few updates on the work you have helped enable over the past year:

  • In May the expanded Ronald McDonald House Quebec City opened adding 13 bedrooms and more common spaces for families.

  • In June 3, our fourth Ronald McDonald Family Room opened at Moncton Regional Hospital in Moncton, New Brunswick. Families with children being treated at that hospital can now recharge and rejuvenate in the comfortable and compassionate space our Family Room offers, while being just steps away from their child's bedside.

  • In July we broke ground on a NEW Ronald McDonald House, in St. John's, Newfoundland. The new 14 bedroom House is scheduled to open next summer and is steps away from the Janeway Hospital.

  • And just two weeks ago we opened the largest Ronald McDonald House in the world. Ronald McDonald House Toronto now offers 81 families with a warm and compassionate place to stay while their children receive treatment at the world renowned Sick Kids Hospital.

We simply couldn't help as many children and families without your support. Thank you for making the 2011 AGRI-FOOD Ski Day so memorable and successful. I hope to see you on the slopes at Osler Bluff again next year.

With heartfelt thanks and appreciation,
