POSITION INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC - MILLWRIGHT

SHIFT ASSIGNMENT: 2ND SHIFT BUT MAY BE ASSIGNED TO WORK ON OTHER SHIFTS, OVERTIME, WEEKEND AND ON CALL AS REQUIRED

GRADE CATEGORY:  TICKETED TRADESPERSON

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Millwright/Electrician Licenses required (minimum Electrical license and Millwright experience)
  • 5 years’ experience in repair & overhaul, troubleshooting of processing, packaging and material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Preference is given to candidates with previous experience in a manufacturing / food processing environment
  • Experience with welding and machining.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following equipment:  vertical form fill  and seal packaging machines, Fryers, metal detectors, vibratory conveyors
  • Must have demonstrated history of safe work habits.
  • Troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Electronic and analytical aptitude
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronics, PLC maintenance, trouble shooting, installation, repair & overhaul of processing, packaging, material handling & systems equipment and facility.
  • Knowledge on PMC program or other preventative maintenance software is an asset
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and understand the necessity of compliance to Company policies, Health and Safety legislation, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety and environmental standards at all times.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • With strong organizational and management skills
  • Ability to work well with others and co-operate with Supervisors , Managers and co-workers
  • Ability to assess safe work requirements before starting a job and follow safe work procedures.

  • Ability to bend frequently and lift heavy equipment as required
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must have own tools, toolbox and safety shoes
  • Ability to work weekend shift, and willingness to work overtime & rotating shift as required

 

DUTIES:  

WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Repair and maintain packaging equipment, fryers and other PLC controlled equipment
  • Repair and maintain processing and material handling equipment.
  • Carry out requirements of Preventative Maintenance program using PMC software.
  • Working alone or assisting in maintenance, processing equipment inspection, repair, and/or troubleshooting of plant equipment and facility.
  • Perform regular inspection in order to prevent breakdowns and major equipment overhauls.
  • Overhaul and install equipment as required
  • Isolate and identify causes of malfunctions on production equipment
  • Set up and operate all hand tools, power tools and related machinery.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area
  • Relieving and/or assisting other employees within maintenance and production as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed complies with applicable industry standards
  • SHIFTS OTHER THAN FIRST SHIFT MAY BE REQUIRED DEPENDING ON NEEDS
